The many adventures of a busy mom

California 2012

by Heather

Well it’s been a little while since I’ve blogged but hey better than nothing right? So since Rylee’s birthday we had Josh’s big birthday bash which was completely planned by the amazing Leah. She picked Spiderman as his theme, so we ran with it and got him a bunch of different decor, a spidy cake, and what would a party be like without games? So we threw in some fun games for the kiddos to play. The girlies had a blast and I’m preety sure Joshua did too!

Valentines Day was awesome and the girls had a blast with their cousins while I stressed over a cute lil’ party. Needless to say the party went over without a hitch and the best part was the treasure hunt! I hid red coins in little hearts and the kids had to follow the map to show them where they were all hidden in the backyard. A day to remember!

California was awesome and the girls had no idea until we arrived at Kym’s Casa. Leah’s face was priceless while Rylee did the same sucking the thumb, hand on deedee routine :) I think Kym was excited to see us sooner than expected and it was a good birthday for her. We stayed for a little over a week, which allowed us A LOT of time to do …DISNEYLAND! I was so excited! Probably more excited than anyone, which says a lot :) The girls had a blast taking pictures with all the characters and I had fun searching for my Mickey head pretzel with cheese…yum! Just to see the reaction from Leah light up and Rylee being super excited to ride the “Care-a-self” will stick with me forever. I don’t know what it is…maybe the large crowds all running to the same awesome attractions you are, or the smell-a-laters that send the wafts of delicious smelling churros into Mainstreet which makes you want to buy every churros in the place, or the nice people who will let you do whatever you want in the park as long as you just ask… it just makes me feel at home :) So we all know that didn’t go over well when the next day we went it downpoured, and I think that is an understatement, and all we wanted to do was go home. I mean the stroller was engulfed with water and all I remember is running to seek higher ground or a dry place that not all the other million guests had already occupied! But the best thing was when we were in the animation studio all the characters showed up and my heart was heavy, not because I was sad or furious with the rain, or crazy people, but my heart was heavy with happiness because it made a crummy day into a magical one. :)

The beach was amazing and Leah LOVED it. Kym was a trooper running in and out, and in and out….AND in and out of the waves! They just couldn’t get enough of them. Rylee on the other hand could care less about the water, or the seaweed, OR the seagulls who decided it was about time to take her lil’ chocolate teddy grahams home to their babies. She did have fun pouring sand into the water buckets and crashing the sand castle town Kym and Daddy had made. It was good.

Sea World was awesome and Shamu was amazing as always. Leah had to see the penguins and Rylee found a new love for…Sharks! I don’t know how it happened but she thinks they are her new best friends. Leah went on the Wild Arctic ride after 20 minutes of making her believe that it wasn’t Space Mountain. Thanks Josh! So she had a great time and actually went on it again!

We walked out onto the Oceanside Pier where there was a restaurant called Ruby’s which had pretty good burgers, but before we got there we had to see the swarm of dolphins just playing in the water! It was crazy because I thought I saw a lot of fish jumping out of the water but once we got closer they were dolphins. And there were so many we couldn’t even count! Once we got into the restaurant they seated us by the Oceanside window and the girls got to watch the whole time we were eating. It was nice not to have to play sugar packet tic-tac-toe while waiting to eat :) Overall we all had a blast in Cali and we will definitely go back soon.

Happy Birthday!

Rylee’s Olivia the Pig 2nd Birthday Party!!

by Heather

Rylee’s birthday was so awesome to plan but a little crazy to get it all together the way I wanted. I couldn’t find anything other than plates and napkins at the store so I had to be creative. A lot of websites gave me inspiration and I went from there. The party turned out amazing and She enjoyed it as well as everyone else who had come to celebrate this fabulous day!  Here are some photos of her Birthday!

First Post!

by Heather

Hello everyone! I’m so glad that I finally have time during Rylee’s nap time and Leah’s down time so that I can share my favorite moments with you guys. It’s been awesome staying at home with the girlies every day and being able to get things done! I always thought I had somewhat of an ADD problem because I would start a job and never finish it, and I couldn’t concentrate ever! But now I realize I wasn’t giving myself enough time to get the job done. Anyways, over the past few weeks the girls have learned a lot and we have been learning a great deal of what the Chinese New Year is all about. We even spring cleaned a little bit! I know we’re not Chinese but Leah was very entranced with the Chinese culture and wanted to go to the Library and get every book imaginable to help better understand everything. Last night I slaved over the stove and made fried rice, dumplings, chow mein noodles (not broken!), and egg rolls. Sara was nice enough to join us for dinner and provide us with egg drop soup and more egg rolls. I must say that was the best Chinese dinner I have ever made! The girls loved having fortune cookies for dessert and the adults enjoyed ice cream.

On another note Rylee is going to be 2 on Sunday!! I can not believe it! She is growing up way too fast and I just can’t fathom the idea of her and Leah one day growing up, marrying men and raising their own children. Not happening. I guess they’ll have to deal with me for a while longer :) Until next time my friends…
